I believe they are planning to do the same to HoI3 which would be awesome, my hope is that they are asked by paradox to make official HoI3 expansions in the future. This is just me speculating but it would be nice.ДЄlso if you find HoI3 to buggy you could check out Arsenal of Democracy, its a fan made stand alone expansion built on top of HoI2 plus its two expansions. I'm guessing they will be picking the most requested features from the forums at the moment, that is mostly AI improvements and to introduce some player control of the supply system such as the ability to setup supply depots in locations of your choice.

Paradox has said that 1.4 will be the last patch for the game, but they are planning expansions, or at least they are planning at least one which should be in development now hopefully. Sadly even multi-player games can be a bit of a faff about as there is no join in progress support, everyone has to restart their games and rejoin into a lobby. I'm taking part in a multi-player game next week, all majors and a few minors are going to be played by a human player so it should be a very fun game. So, don't expect a bug-less game in the demo. Even in 1.4 there are pretty big AI failings, naval AI is still pretty crap. I think the demo is 1.1c while the current version is 1.4.

I don't think the demo is an up to date version of the game, and as you can see from the patch notes a lot is fixed in one patch.
